With a little over one month left in the current map, there's going to be a few major changes to drugs on the server. I'd like to make it clear that we are implementing these changes now, rather than at the start of next map, as a trial to get valuable data for optimizing the server performance next map as much as possible. If these changes happen to have little noticable effect, then they may even be reverted for next map, however I believe it's likely that they will have a large effect.
With that said, we have decided to discontinue melon seeds, pumpkin seeds, and mushrooms (as well as all their raw forms and derivatives) as drugs. These three drugs make up the bulk of automatic farms on the server, which are the main cause of the recent server performance issues that have been plaguing the server over the last couple months. These changes will come into effect starting next Saturday (April 7). Until then, you're free to grow and sell all the pumpkins, melons, and mushrooms you'd like, however after that date, they will be worthless.
This is clearly a net loss for anyone who is currently farming these drugs, so we're going to offer some options to lessen the impact of the change. The price of these drugs will be permanently boosted by 25% for the remaining week that they can be sold. Along with this, we are going to offer dismantling of automatic farms for these drugs. Make a ticket and ask an admin to dismantle your automatic pumpkin/melon/mushroom farm, and we will worldedit it out, clearing the space and returning the important components (pistons, hoppers, observers, and other redstone parts) to you. This option, however, does come with a cost. If you'd like an admin to dismantle your farm, only 75% of the total redstone parts will be returned to you. This is to incentivize players to dismantle their farm on their own, as admins are quite busy around this time. We'll only be offering this for the next week.
Finally, we'd like to make it abundantly clear that we wish we did not have to make these changes; we'd like to have the greatest diversity and options available for drugs, as that opens up many possibilities and gameplay styles. To try to balance the loss of these drugs, we have over a dozen new custom recipe drugs coming up next map.
It sucks that we have to make these changes, and we're aware that many players are going to be pretty angry about them, but we hope that most can understand that this is being done for valid reasons, and if not then the intended effects of the change should make it clear why this is happening.
